Women recall abortion pill trauma in documentary: ‘This was a formed, undeniable baby’

March 4, 2019

On February 20, 2019, Life Issues Institute released a documentary on the abortion pill in which two women were interviewed about their experiences with medication abortions. Both women suffered extreme pain and emotional trauma.

The first woman interviewed, Tammi Morris, had previous surgical abortions. But they did not prepare her for the pain and psychological trauma she endured with the abortion pill. Morris was engaged, but she felt that her new marriage would be burdened by a child. So she went to the abortion facility. Abortion workers assured her that the abortion pill “was going to be a simple, mostly painless, private, safe process.”

But Morris experienced physical agony…

It wasn’t very long until after I took that pill that I began to experience labor. And it didn’t take long at all for those labor pains to intensify. Because I had already given birth to a child, my daughter, I knew what labor felt like, and I was shocked. I thought that I would cramp, like I had with my surgical abortion, but it would be over relatively quickly. This was not that. This was horrific! This was me, alone, afraid, and feeling like I’m going to give birth to death. They didn’t prepare me for this. They told me that some tissue would be expelled from me, much like clots.

Morris found her abortion to be as painful as labor. However, instead of being surrounded by medical professionals providing support and pain relief, she was alone. Then she was confronted with the sight of her own aborted child:

And I was on the toilet, and I wasn’t there very long, and the urge to push was there. And I felt a mass, and then I heard a sound. Horrified, I looked down, and there was my baby. In a toilet… [I felt] devastated. This wasn’t uterine tissue. This was a formed, recognizable, undeniable baby. My baby. My fiancé’s baby.

Morris bled so profusely that she had to seek medical attention. But knowing she killed her baby was the hardest thing to cope with:

I was angry, I was ashamed, I was very hard to be around, because I had this secret. I had this traumatic experience that I couldn’t share with anybody. And after all, how does the mother who killed her own child in the womb, intentionally, how does she grieve outwardly?

Elizabeth Gillett went to Planned Parenthood. She was very ambivalent about having an abortion, and Planned Parenthood pressured and attempted to deceive her. First, they refused to show her the ultrasound; then, when pressed, the sonographer froze the picture and told her the baby was “not viable.” Gillett believes this was a lie to convince her to go through with the abortion. About the abortion process, she was told:

You’ll experience some light cramping. It’ll be like a heavy period because you’re early enough. It shouldn’t hurt. You need to take these antibiotics in case of the very slight chance of infection.

Gillett describes what really happened:

[T]he cramping started. And it was deep, and very, very painful. I’ve had three children since then, and it felt like labor. I miscarried my entire child whole. It was the size of a tennis ball, probably, round, just a perfect little sack. And inside was this tiny little gummy bear. And I held him… The doctor had promised me that I would feel relieved. I didn’t feel any relief.

Instead, she felt…

Overwhelming guilt. Just a sickness inside that I couldn’t, couldn’t put away. Nightmares started shortly after. I stopped eating. I became anorexic. I was later diagnosed with acute posttraumatic stress disorder.

Gillett became pregnant again, once more in bad circumstances. This time, however, abortion was out of the question. She had the baby. And she began speaking out about her experience on social media. Gillett found sharing her story to be therapeutic:

Hiding in the silence is just your own personal death sentence. But when you stand up and say, “enough is enough – this hurt me, and it’s hurting women everywhere.” It just kind of set me free.

Morris now runs a ministry helping pregnant women find alternatives to abortion. She offers them both material items and emotional support.

The medical abortion process consists of two different drugs. First, the woman takes a medicine called mifepristone, commonly known as the abortion pill. This drug blocks the hormone progesterone, causing the baby to detach from the uterine wall and die by starvation. The woman takes this pill at the abortion facility. Later, at home, she takes a second drug, misoprostol, which causes her uterus to contract and expel the baby and placenta.

Former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino illustrates this abortion method:

These women’s experiences illustrate both the deception of the abortion industry and the horrific nature of abortions by pill.

The Good News

Salvation is a FREE GIFT from God. You don’t have to do anything but believe by faith that God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead 3 days later.

  1. God declares all mankind sinners and we all fall short of Glory of God. Romans 3:23
  2. The payment for our sin is death. Romans 6:23
  3. But God…because he loved you so much sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, to die in your place, for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead three days later. 1 Cor 15:1-42cor 5:21

All God asks is that you believe by faith alone in 1, 2, & 3. That you’re a sinner, separated from God but God sent his Son to die for your sins, was buried & rose again 3 days later.

‘that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ‘

Romans 10:9
